Western Mail June 2006 – Homosexual & Heterosexual Relationships

Question:

I am a 21 year old homosexual man still living with my parents. I am not ashamed of being gay apart from telling my parents. I don’t know if I should tell them or carry on pretending that I am going off meeting girls in Cardiff. I don’t know what to do about telling them, I feel shy, embarrassed, ashamed and scared as to how they will react. What do I do?

Answer:

You have options. You can carry on without telling them or you can tell them who you are and your feelings. What you need to decide is what the consequences are in telling them or not. Using therapy like Thought Field Therapy or Hypnosis can help you sort your mind what is important to you, be it telling your parents or not it can also help you get rid of any negative feelings and fears so that you are in a more able position to decide what you would like to do. At some stage you might be in a position where you do need to tell them when you meet someone special that you want to spend more time with or if they are expecting grandchildren.

You might find that they may already suspect that you are not very interested in the ‘opposite sex’.

Question:

I am a 31 year old woman, not in a relationship and I don’t seem to be meeting anyone that I could be in a relationship with. It used to be easier when I was younger going out with my friends but now they all seem to be married or in a relationship and they are not going out anymore with me. I don’t want to go out alone, I don’t have any single friends to go out with and I feel left out and very shy about me now.

Answer:

Relax. TFT and Hypnosis can help with your shyness and also it can help you to not mind that all your friends are no longer single while you still are. These therapies are excellent at helping you to deal with past situations and get you ready to move on as a new person, getting rid of all fears and negative feelings. You will get to a stage where you feel more comfortable about joining other groups to make new friends who may be in the same situation as yourself. Start by realising what is holding you back from being the person who you would love to be now. Do you have certain fears? Would you like to be the person who can walk into any room and feel relaxed, at ease and in control TFT or Hypnosis can help.
