Western Mail - May 2006 – Toxins & Phobias

Question

I suffer with stress and anxiety all the time and I have been getting panic attacks which are getting more frequent and worse. I am in a loving relationship with great children and no money worries. What is the matter with me?

Answer:

I have had so many clients come to me with similar problems all related to some form of stress and anxiety, which I specialise in, in the majority of cases their problems can be related to toxins.

There are three main causes of toxins effecting us, inhalation, consuming and touch. What I would like you to do is make out a list of everything that you come into contact with you like shampoo, hair conditioner, body wash, soap, perfumes, household cleaning products remember everything that you can smell or taste can have a high toxin level. Put them all into a black bag and stop using them ALL for the moment. When living with other people loved ones, family and friends ask if they can do the same for a period of two months. The next step is find a good local health food shop and look at the products that are safer to use for both you and the environment and start using those products instead. Look also at other ways of cleaning, using more natural products like bicarbonate of soda, vinegar even lemon juice. Lastly cut out all additives in your diet including sugar and sugar substitute – read labels – I know the print on labels seems to have got so tiny so take a magnifying glass with you or ask shop assistants to read the labels out to you. By the way if there is anything written on the label that you can not pronounce chances are it is not very healthy for you. Simple tip for smells in the bathroom keep a ‘Peace Lily’ as they can absorb smells and also a box of matches, out of reach of little fingers, and ‘strike a light’ after using the toilet, when necessary, the sulphur in the matches helps to get rid of strong smells almost instantly.

There is a list of more suggestions on my web site if you could have a look there and also more information about toxins.

Question

I am terrified of spiders which I can sort of deal with in this country but I am going travelling to Australia and I almost feel like cancelling my trip what can I do?

Answer:

There is one thing that you could try, which is think of the spider with a clowns hat on and with big red boots dancing to circus music.

I am in the process of starting a ‘Phobia Clinic’ in June which will be free to attend at my clinic in Cathedral Road with just a nominal cost for administration. This will be for people that have a simple phobia about certain things in particular like fear of spiders, flowers, dogs, height to name but a few of hundreds! You can contact me for more information about this phobia clinic

A fear of stopping you from doing something that might be fun or that you might enjoy is quite sad but can be dealt with easily so that there is nothing stopping you from being the person that you would love to be.
